Let’s keep the blue wave going. We have a very qualified candidate running for Tennessee State Senate District 14. This election is the same day as the PA for Conor Lamb, March 13, 2018. Meet Gayle Jordan, visit her website, drop a donation, so she can have some room to do the final blitz.
Checking up on how the race was going, I came across an article about Gayle’s opponent. Shivers, the guy is a real piece of work. Got a sweet million dollar deal from the governor, a big pharma bro. Just the type we don’t need. And he’s got Marsha Blackburn helping out. You know the one, the screaming banshee, with her climate change denial, and Trumpian love. Bleh!!!!
But I get off the point, oh yeah. Tennessee still has a provision in their constitution barring atheists from holding public office. First a supposed slur towards Gayle’s belief system. From the Tennessee Star. Link to article.
Reeves is the Republican candidate in Tuesday’s election, in which he faces the far left self proclaimed atheist Gayle Jordan, the Democratic candidate.
I like the “self proclaimed.” What does that even mean. Officially there is not a dang thing they can legally do, but…….
An unusual aspect of the race is the Democratic candidate’s rejection of belief in God and strong profession of atheism. Under the Tennessee State Constitution, atheists are not allowed to hold public office, a point that some national liberal media outlets that are covering the race have chosen to emphasize
The issue is moot however, because a 1961 U.S. Supreme Court decision ruled that such provisions of any state constitution are unconstitutional.
I don’t really understand the fear of atheism. Gayle is super brave to stand up, run for public office, and be an unabashed atheist. Of course, that is not the only reason I support Gayle for State Senate District 14. I pretty much agree with all her positions. To attack her beliefs is how the GOP play. Well, maybe this time they under estimate folks disgust for playing old games, on broken boards, and dated score sheets. I throw my fist up for Gayle, I am in Alabama so I can’t vote for her. But with pride I say loud and clear, You go girl!
Gayle Jordan for State Senate District 14.
